If you get a call on your cell phone from an unknown number. With a canned message stating “We are sorry to inform you that your debit card has been LOCKED, please push 1 to be connected with our security department.” If you get a call like this it’s a SCAM. Do not give them any information, terminate the call, and call the telephone number on the back of your credit card / debit card to report the activity. This is a phishing attempt, if you were to push 1, you would be asked to provide personal information by either voice prompt, or aggressive operator, you never want to do this. Your financial institution will have your information if it’s legit, they will not have to ask you for it. IF IN DOUBT NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION. These scams are many times initiated by people outside of the United States.
